Air Max 1 — Where It All Started
The original visible Air shoe. AM1's simplicity is deceptive — the mudguard shape, mini swoosh curve, and air bubble window all need to be precise. OWF's AM1 is the benchmark, with the most accurate mudguard profile and cleanest air bubble of any batch.
OWF's AM1 scores 9.1 overall — the highest Air Max score on the site. The mudguard (that rubber piece wrapping the heel and toe) has a specific curve that most batches get slightly wrong. OWF nails it. H12 comes close but their mudguard sits about 2mm too high at the heel, which is noticeable in side-by-side comparisons. The batch index has the full score breakdown.
AM1's mini swoosh is different from the larger swooshes on AM90 or Dunks — it sits lower and has a tighter curve. Budget batches often use a scaled-down standard swoosh that doesn't match AM1's specific proportions. OWF and H12 both have correct mini swoosh molds. For sizing, AM1 runs TTS with slightly narrow toe box — wide feet should half up.
Bottom Line
OWF is the definitive AM1 batch. H12 is acceptable but the mudguard is slightly off. Budget batches struggle with the specific AM1 proportions. This is a model worth investing in the premium batch. See AM270 and AM Plus for other Air Max model options.
